Meet Kristin and Sasha
Kristin
​
Qualifications
​
Kristin is a psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). She is also a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and an associate member of the College of Educational and Developmental Psychologists (CEDP). In addition to her psychology qualifications (Bachelor of Behavioural Science, PGDip Applied Psychology, Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology) she holds a Master of Counselling and Graduate Certificate of Evaluation which also inform her practice. Kristin is committed to improving her client experiences and participates in regular supervision and professional development. Kristin is also currently undertaking further studies in Clinical Psychology to further improve her practice.

Therapeutic Approach

Kristin works from a strength-based perspective and her work is informed by a range of evidence-based techniques including (but not limited to) Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), CBT-E, Motivational interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Schema Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She also works with her therapy dog in training (Sasha the miniature Cavoodle) (available at Bundoora only).

Who does Kristin support?
​
She enjoys supporting a range of individuals across the lifespan including children (aged 3 years and over), adolescents, adults, and older adults. Kristin has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals and their supporters across the lifespan. Kristin’s varied experience in community settings (family violence, addiction, mental health, disability), private practice and school settings (primary and secondary) helps her further understand how an individual’s life experiences intersect and impact wellbeing. Kristin’s experience in these different sectors assist her to support individuals to navigate complex systems. Kristin also regularly supports people to advocate for their own needs and environmental accommodations.

Kristin also teaches psychology at a tertiary level and has previously worked in clinical research settings (autism research, mental health research, sleep research). She has published research related to children’s experience of family violence and has presented workshops to allied health professionals on topics such as ADHD and supporting young carers of individuals who have mental ill health.
In terms of assessment, Kristin is experienced at conducting cognitive, educational, and diagnostic assessments. Kristin views assessment as an opportunity to help develop a framework to support an individual to understand their experiences and communicate their needs and strengths to others. Kristin’s experience working in education settings (primary through to tertiary) and a range of workplaces also assists her to develop plans that can be readily used to support individuals within their learning and work environment.

Sasha
Sasha is a 6 year old miniature Cavoodle who attends sessions with Kristin at Bundoora. Sasha enjoys belly rubs, playing and snuggling on the couch. At home, she enjoys bossing around her siblings, Jett (who is a Labrador) and Muffin (a tabby cat).
